INTERNET/WORD PROCESSING PROCEDURES

Rules at the Library:

• Sign-up required
• Sign-up sheet is at Ref. Desk.
• First come, first served
• No reservations in advance
• 30 minute limit [one hour max limit per day] on the Internet; 1 hour limit on

the Word Processing computers

• No bulletin board, chat, or instant messaging allowed
• 10 cents a page to print
• $.10 per page for every page over 5 lines
• $.10 per page for all copies made whether patron takes them or not. (We

suggest patrons use the “Print Preview” to select the pages desired.

Ask the Reference staff how to do this.)

• Pick up and Pay for copies at Ref. Desk

Downloading:

· Saving to the hard drive is not permitted

· Downloading to disk is not permitted except for Word PC

· It is NOT permitted to use any software brought into library on library

equipment.

Hours of operation:

• Use of the Word PC and Internet will cease 15 minutes before library

closes. All prints should be picked up & paid for at least 15 minutes before

closing.

Children:

Access to Internet is available in Children’s Room. Responsibility for, and any

restrictions of, a child’s access to information on the Internet rests solely with

his or her parents or legal guardians.

Suspension of privileges:

Violation of the policies & regulations that govern the use of the library’s Internet

resources will result in suspension or loss of privilege to use the resources.

Warning:

The Library has installed a virus-checker on its computers. However, this will not

completely protect you from getting a virus. Software and information downloaded

from the Internet may contain a virus and patrons are advised to utilize a virus-checking

software on their own computers. Downloading to the Library’s hard drives is

prohibited. The Union Twp. Public Library is not responsible for damage to a

patron’s disks or computers, or for any loss of data, damage, or liability that may

occur from use of the Library’s computers.
