CIRCULATING MATERIAL

Ø New adult fiction and non-fiction circulates 14 days

Ø Other books circulate for 28 days

Ø Compact Discs circulate for 7 days (limit 5)

Ø Books-on-Tape circulate 14 days (limit 5)

Ø Videos circulate 3 days (n/c to $1.50)

Ø DVDs circulate 3 days $1.50.

Ø CD-ROM available only in Children’s Department

Video borrowers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid Union Public Library card. Juvenile Videos are not subject to the age restriction. Circulation period is 3 nights. The limit is 5 videos.

RECIPROCAL BORROWING

Union residents may use their library card at most of the libraries in Union and Middlesex Counties. Individual libraries may restrict type and amount of materials borrowed. A list of participating libraries is available in the Reference Department

REFERENCE SERVICES

§Need help? Ask a librarian! Patrons are encouraged to ask a librarian for assistance. Requests for information by telephone are welcome.

§The Library will request loans of titles we do not own from other libraries. Check with the Staff for details.

§Workstations with Internet access and word processing are available in the Adult and Children’s Departments for public use. Adults must sign in. The user time limit is 30 minutes. The cost of printing is 10 cents per page.

CAREER CENTER

Career Centers housing books and videos for job seekers are located at the Main Library and at Vauxhall Branch. Each Center provides a computer with an assortment of software, including Microsoft Word. Career seminars are presented at various times during the year.

LES MALAMUT ART GALLERY

The Les Malamut Art Gallery on the Lower Level presents works by New Jersey artists. Eight or nine exhibits are held each year. Special exhibits feature the work of local students.

BUILDING ACCESS

The building is accessible on all levels. An elevator is located in the rear entrance to the building. Meetings in the Activities Room on the 2^nd floor may be entered by stairs located in the Reference Department, or through the Children’s Department on the 2^nd floor.

The Library is closed Saturdays during the summer.

PROGRAMS

Storytimes – storytime programs are offered for children ages 6 months to Kindergarten.

Special Events – Storytellers, puppet shows, character birthday parties and other programs are held periodically throughout the year.

A variety of adult programs and special events are scheduled throughout the year.

VAUXHALL BRANCH

Hilton Avenue & Russell Street

The Vauxhall Branch circulates books, videos and books-on-tape, DVDs and CD-ROMS. Materials requested from the Main Library are delivered to the Branch.

Vauxhall also provides Internet access and computers for word processing.

Special events for children include crafts programs, storytimes and Summer Reading Club.
